Winter social at the Cambridge Winter Ale Festival. It’s at the University Social Club in Mill Lane, we’ll be there from 8pm. There’s basic food available there. Personally I might head to Kelsey Kerridge wall beforehand to work up a thirst…

01 Mar 2013 - 04 Mar 2013Climbing trip to the Cairngorms in Scotland! As Scotland is quite far away, this is a 4 day trip travelling up during the day on Friday 1st March. We will then spend Saturday & Sunday playing in the snow before travelling back down again on the Monday 4th March. As there was a fair bit of interest from beginners, we’ve split the trip into two. Those of us who’ve never been winter climbing will be staying at Glenmore Lodge and receiving professional tuition from one of their guides (http://www.glenmorelodge.org.uk/course-wintermountain-skills-display.asp?course_id=38). For the more experienced, we’ll book places in a hut in or around Aviemore, close to Glenmore Lodge.
The cost of the trip for beginners is £245 per person + petrol. That price includes food, accommodation, equipment hire, a professional guide for 2 days & evening talks on avalanche awareness, etc. The cost of the trip for experienced winter climbers will be ~£50 + petrol & food.
If you want to join us beginners, please book (& pay) directly with Glenmore Lodge, mentioning that you are with the CCCC when you book (they are expecting us). Please also let me know to organize lifts, etc. If you just want to join in the bunk house, just contact me as normal and I’ll sort out the bunk house.

Pub social at the Mill Inn on Mill Lane http://themillpubcambridge.co.
This’ll be a good opportunity for the people who’ve been to El Chorro to show off their sun tans, the people who’re going to Cornwall to discuss plans, and everyone else to have a nice pint and some tasty food.
Meeting there from about 7pm. Let Dave know if you’re thinking of coming, so he can reserve a table if necessary.

A trip to the legendary Gogarth sea cliffs of Holyhead/Anglesey island. Not suitable for beginners or even intermediate climbers. The location requires abseiling down onto dangerous, tidal sea cliffs and there’s not many ways back up again below HVS. Might be scope to do a parallel trip to the near-by Holyhead Mountain which is far less serious, if there’s enough interest.

Climbing trip to Costa Blanca. The Costa Blanca has a mixture of 100% bolted crags, mixed trad and bolts, top quality mountain routes, inland crags and sea cliffs. The climate is good (shorts and tee shirts are pretty normal) and there is a new Rockfax to the area. In the past, these ‘sun rock’ trips have been great fun with a good blend of climbing, socialising and relaxation!
