1998 Climbing Meets List

The following list should give you some idea of the official climbing activities of the Club during 1998. All Transport arrangements will be sorted out at the pub meet proceeding the trip. If you are unable to attend the pub please telephone or e-mail the Climbing Secretary , before the Monday pub meet.

  • January – Val Thorens, Alps, 2nd-10th, unofficial “JaneSki” trip for skiing.
  • January – Patterdale, Friday 16th January – Sunday 18th January, ABMSAC George Starkey Hut
  • February – Climbing / Skiing – Glen Coe area, Friday 27th February – Monday 2nd March, Accommodation to be arranged, probably camping!
  • March – Joint Meet – Mendips, Friday 20th March – Sunday 22nd March, Joint meet with the cavers in Cheddar area probably the Belfry in Priddy
  • April – Cornwall, Friday 10th April – Monday 13th April, Caravans plus camping at Sennen
  • May – Pembroke, Friday 1st May – Monday 4th May, Camping Bosherston
  • May – Wasdale, Friday 22nd May – Monday 25th May, Camping Nether Wasdale
  • June – Anglesey, Friday 26th June – Sunday 28th June, Camping to be arranged
  • July – Chew Valley, Friday 24th -Sunday 26th, Camping Holme Valley Camping and Caravan Park, Thongsbridge, Near Holmfirth (Summer Wine / Chew valley and north Peak District).
  • August – Lake District, Friday 28th – Monday 31st, Camping at Coniston Hall
  • September – Tremadoc, Wales, Friday 25th – Sunday 27th, Camping Eric’s
  • October – Wye Valley, Friday 23rd, – Sunday 25th, Camping to be arranged
  • November – Dinner Meet, TBA
  • December – Yorkshire, Friday 11th – Sunday 13th, YSS Hut

  • March 20th to 22nd, Mendips (Joint meet with climbers) Accommodation: BEC, The Belfry, Wells Road, Priddy, Wells, Somerset

Pub Meets

We now meet every Monday at 9pm (except Bank Holidays when there is usually an away trip), the new venue is the “The Boat House”, Chesterton Road, Cambridge. Various arrangements for club trips including car sharing arrangements are usually made on the Monday before the trip. If you cannot attend on this day please make direct contact with the climbing or the caving secretary.
