Events List 2010

This is the current list of events and club meets for 2010. Transport arrangements are generally sorted out via email. If you’re interested in any trips, drop a line to the Climbing or Caving Secretary. Most trips leave Cambridge on Friday evening and return Sunday evening.

January
15 Jan – 17 Jan Climbing trip to North Wales. Staying at the Clogwyn Mountaineering Club hut, Croesor Valley.
February
11 Feb – 15 Feb Winter climbing trip to Western Highlands, Scotland. Based at the Inchree Centre, Onich, near Fort William. 8 places confirmed, but extra places may be available if necessary – please contact the climbing secretary. This trip is not suitable for beginners.
12 Feb – 14 Feb Caving trip to The Old School, YSS, Helwith Bridge, Yorkshire. 13th: Lost John’s, Grade 4, Leck Fell, permit received. 14th: novice SRT trip, venue to be decided
March
12 Mar – 14 Mar Climbing and Caving trip to Cheddar and Avon area. Staying in Wessex Caving Club hut, Mendip.
April
1 Apr – 5 Apr Climbing trip to Cornwall.
16 Apr – 18 Apr Caving trip to Whitewalls Cottage, Chelsea Speleological Society. Llangattock.
17 April: Craig a Ffynon and/or Agen Allwedd, Grade 3/4; permits received.18 April: Agen Allwedd, Grade 3/4; permit received.
May
30 Apr – 3 May Climbing trip to North Wales.
7 May – 9 May Caving trip to Yorkshire. The Old School, YSS, Helwith Bridge, near Settle, Yorkshire.
Easegill and easy SRT trip
15 May Beginners day trip to the Peak District. A good opportunity for those new to the sport to experience climbing outdoors on real rock. Experienced club member volunteers also required to help out.
22 May – 23 May Graham’s 50th Birthday. This is not a club trip, however one of our long-time members is celebrating his 50th birthday this year! He plans a weeknd in the Lake Distctict, with anyone who’d like to join. We’ll be camping at Turner Hall Farm, Lakes.
28 May – 31 May Climbing trip to Wicklow Mountains, Republic of Ireland. Based in the IMC Hut near Glendalough. 8 places available.
June
11 Jun – 13 Jun Caving trip to Wye Valley, camping at Beeches farm.
25 Jun – 27 Jun Climbing trip to the Lake District.
July
16 Jul – 18 Jul Caving trip.
23 Jul – 25 Jul Climbing trip to Yorkshire.
August
13 Aug – 15 Aug Caving trip to The Old School, YSS, Helwith Bridge, near Settle Yorkshire. 14 August: Birks Fell Cave, Buckden, Grade 4; permit received

27 Aug – 30 Aug Climbing trip to Pembroke.

10 Sep – 12 Sep Caving trip to South Wales, Penwyllt.
24 Sep – 26 Sep Climbing trip to Swanage.
October
8 Oct – 10 Oct Caving trip, staying at The Old School, YSS, Helwith Bridge, near Settle, Yorkshire.
22 Oct – 24 Oct This year’s Annual Dinner Meet will at the The Station Inn, Ribblehead – a fine venue for food, drink, accommodation – plus of course climbing, caving, mountain biking, running, walking and much more…
We have 32 bunkhouse places reserved, the offer of full breakfasts with tea/coffee each day and a 3 course dinner with tea/coffee. This gives two great options – £30 for 2 nights bunk and dinner or £40 for 2 nights bunk, 2 breakfasts and dinner.
For those in need of more comfort there are also some B&B rooms available.
A non-returnable (except in unavoidable circumstances) £10 deposit will secure a place. Contact the social secretary now! December 3 Dec – 5 Dec Caving trip to the South Wales Caving Club cottage, Penwyllt.
